Garments to Rebuild the World:
A Wearable Art Group Exhibit Curated by Eloïse Ptito
“Garments to Rebuild the World" is a wearable art group exhibit & pop-up curated by Eloïse Ptito. It ran from July 17-24, 2021 at Ten Haaf Projects Gallery, in Amsterdam, NL.
Featured artists included:
Sofia Salazar (AR/UK), Stewart Francis Easton (UK), Léa Stansal (FR), Miho Hino (JP) and Eloïse Ptito (CAN/NL).
The week-long gallery show sought to invite a select group of artists from around the world to share their very own garments of "reconstruction"; the aim of each wearable or accessory being to celebrate the rebuilding of a better world post-pandemic and onwards.
Whether it be a garment, textile, accessory, or even a piece of jewelry, all artists were encouraged to emotionally-recycle personal materials , incorporate elements of handcraft, and most importantly—make do with what they already had.
As we process the very difficult and contemplative moments of 2020, it is my belief that the slow, yet undeniable power of craft can serve as an impactful tool for togetherness, cultural exchange, and both the collective reimagining and rebuilding of a better world.
